Luke 19:28-40 28And when he had thus spoken, he went before, ascending up to Jerusalem. 29And it came to pass, when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called the mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, 30Saying, Go ye into the village over against you; in the which at your entering ye shall find a colt tied, whereon yet never man sat: loose him, and bring him hither. 31And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose him? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him. 32And they that were sent went their way, and found even as he had said unto them. 33And as they were loosing the colt, the owners thereof said unto them, Why loose ye the colt? 34And they said, The Lord hath need of him. 35And they brought him to Jesus: and they cast their garments upon the colt, and they set Jesus thereon. 36And as he went, they spread their clothes in the way. 37And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen; 38Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. 39And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Numbers 2:9 All that were numbered in the camp of Judah were an hundred thousand and fourscore thousand and six thousand and four hundred, throughout their armies. These shall first set forth
Judges 1:1-2 1Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them? 2And the LORD said, Judah shall go up: behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.
Genesis 29:31-35 31And when the LORD saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel was barren. 32And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me. 33And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I was hated, he hath therefore given me this son also: and she called his name Simeon. 34And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi. 35And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: *** therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.
Genesis 37:26-27 (KJVS) And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood? 27Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
Genesis 43:8-9 8And Judah said unto Israel his father, Send the lad with me, and we will arise and go; that we may live, and not die, both we, and thou, and also our little ones. 9I will be surety for him; of my hand shalt thou require him: if I bring him not unto thee, and set him before thee, then let me bear the blame for ever:
2 Chronicles 20:1-13 1It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle. 2Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi. 3And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the LORD, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. 4And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the LORD: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the LORD. 5And Jehoshaphat stood in the congregation of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the LORD, before the new court, 6And said, O LORD God of our fathers, art not thou God in heaven? and rulest not thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand is there not power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee? 7Art not thou our God, who didst drive out the inhabitants of this land before thy people Israel, and gavest it to the seed of Abraham thy friend for ever? 8And they dwelt therein, and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name, saying, 9If, when evil cometh upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in thy presence, (for thy name is in this house,) and cry unto thee in our affliction, then thou wilt hear and help. 10And now, behold, the children of Ammon and Moab and mount Seir, whom thou wouldest not let Israel invade, when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them, and destroyed them not; 11Behold, I say, how they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit. 12O our God, wilt thou not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that cometh against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee. 13And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.
2 Chronicles 20:14-19 (KJVS) Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; 15And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel. 17Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. 18And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshipping the LORD. 19And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
2 Chronicles 20:20-30 (KJVS) And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper. 21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped. 25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much. 26 And on the fourth day they assembled themselves in the valley of Berachah; for there they blessed the LORD: therefore the name of the same place was called, The valley of Berachah, unto this day. 27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, and Jehoshaphat in the forefront of them, to go again to Jerusalem with joy; for the LORD had made them to rejoice over their enemies. 28 And they came to Jerusalem with psalteries and harps and trumpets unto the house of the LORD. 29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries, when they had heard that the LORD fought against the enemies of Israel. 30 So the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet: for his God gave him rest round about.

236 Wait till that satisfaction comes, the satisfaction Portion of the fullness of the Holy Spirit comes in, then these joy bells of shouting, and speaking in tongues, and dancing in the Spirit, will come. You won’t have to do it by the music. You will do it when you’re going down the road, in your car. You will do it when you’re sweeping the floor. You will do it when you’re driving nails in the wall, with your carpenter work. Wherever you are, that Joy unspeakable and full of glory!

27 God, he that comes to You empty will go away full. You promised it. And I pray that You will fill their hearts and their baskets (of their souls) so full of the good things of God that they’ll go away just bubbling over with joy unspeakable and full of Glory." Just may the cups of these precious people run over, with spiritual and good things from God.

73 Now, as God poured out the manna there in the natural, and it lasted as long as they were in the journey; a beautiful type. And the day they entered the promised land, the manna ceased. And on the Day of Pentecost, the same thing…
74 Look at Pentecost, to Moses. They looked back and they seen the enemy was dead. Miriam grabbed a tambourine, begin to beat it, and scream, and dance, and run down the bank. The women followed her, doing the same thing. And Moses threw up his hands, and sang in the Spirit.
75 At Pentecost, the women come out, staggering, and jumping, and dancing, and carrying on. Peter stood up in the midst of them, and said, “You men of Judaea, and you that dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known unto you, and hearken to my words: For these are not drunk, as you suppose, seeing it’s the third hour of the day. This is that which was spoken of by the prophet Joel; ‘It shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I’ll pour out My Spirit upon all flesh: your sons and your daughters shall prophesy: upon My handmaids and maidservants will I pour out of My Spirit; and they shall prophesy: And I’ll show wonders in the heavens above, and in the earth below; pillars of fire, and vapor, and smoke: And it shall come to pass, before the great and terrible day of the Lord shall come, that whosoever shall call upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.’” On and on he went, preaching.
Pardon

68 I like this kind of singing. When I was back there praying for some of the people, a few moments ago, that had been brought in. And this not being a prayer service; just to speak. I was in there. And I could hear the songs, the clapping of their hands. And we wonder…And some of them even, I seen them, run up-and-down the floor, what they call “dancing in the Spirit.”
69 At first time, I was a critic of that , when I seen the Pentecostal people dancing in the Spirit. And I thought, “What is this? It must be a bunch of nonsense.” Then I got to reading the Bible , and I found out, that, when dancing in the Spirit. The devil copied it and put them out here with rock-and-roll and stuff, but the real genuine dance come from God. That’s exactly. And, always, a dance was victory.
70 When David slew Goliath, and this little ruddy-looking boy come dragging the head of this giant into the city, the people met him, dancing. They had the victory. When Moses crossed the Red Sea, by the power of God, and took the children of Israel on the other side, Miriam picked up a tambourine, and all the daughters of Israel, and up-and-down the bank they went, beating the tambourine and dancing in the Spirit. If that isn’t an old-fashion Pentecostal meeting, I never seen one in my life. The trouble was, with me, I didn’t have enough victory. But when you finally get that victory, and the token of the Blood of Jesus Christ comes upon you.
71 I remember David, the great psalmist of the Bible. When he had done something, that, this great thing, he was given Saul’s daughter. And she was kind of a self-starched, self-styled, so-called believer. And the ark had been away from God for a long time, the visible Presence of God, the Pillar of Fire hanging over this ark. The Philistines had come in and took it out under Saul’s reign. And one day, when David seen the ark coming back to the house of God, David run out before the ark, and he danced before the Lord, singing the praises of God. And Saul’s daughter seemed to be very much embarrassed at that man’s action. Her husband, her young, handsome husband had cut up and misbehave himself in her presence, the king’s daughter. And David said, so much, “If you don’t like that, watch this a little while.” And around, and around, and around the ark he went again, dancing in the Spirit. And she was embarrassed. And God cursed that woman with a curse.
72 Oh, the victory through the Blood of Jesus Christ , the token of the resurrection of Christ, His life lives within His Church. There is no other way of fellowship, under, but under that Blood. Our denominations will separate us, and one say, “That’s nonsense.” And one say this, that, or the other.
73 Pentecost was our pattern. No one will have to say but what… or can say but what that the Church was inaugurated on the Day of Pentecost. And the same Spirit that come upon them on that day, every time without fail, in the Bible, when the Holy Ghost came upon the people, they acted the same way.
74 Let me say this, that in the heathen lands where I’ve had the place, the privilege of traveling and seeing blanket natives of the islands and in the Hottentots, and see them stand there where you have to speak through an interpreter, never heard the Name of Jesus Christ in their life. But tell them the Story, and ask them to raise up their hands and receive God, they do the same thing you do right here when you receive the Holy Ghost. Shows that it’s a universal thing. It’s the power of Almighty God, the display of His token upon His children, whether they’re red, black, white, or whatever they might be. It’s the only place that fellowship is given.
Only Believe

3 I never was at a dance in my life. But I heard only a—a holy dance one time in church. I never forget that. When we was still a Baptist church, I would always criticize, kinda, in my heart. I wouldn’t say it out loud, because I—I’d be afraid to do that. Anything that God does… I always kinda thought it was kinda strange to see, when I seen, first got acquainted with the Pentecostal people, see them dance, you know, dance around. I thought, “Now, you know, that ain’t in the Bible. What—what are they dancing about?” And then one night I was teaching from a chart on Daniel and Revelations. It was New Year’s night. I was going to teach on the chart until midnight. It wasn’t a chart, like a blackboard, I was teaching. And there was some Pentecostal people had come from Louisville. They had a—oh, some sisters. A sister pastored a church over there and she had a… They had washboards, and thimbles, and—and all kinds of little things to make rackets with, and—and they all got harmonizing some way. I don’t know what it was, and they…
And she started playing the piano, and all these girls up there got to hitting with these thimbles on washboards and things. And—and they—they got they was playing that song, There’s going to be a meeting in the air, In the sweet by and by, Or some… Well, that little girl that was playing, little lady pastor, she just turned white, oh, just like a chalk. And she just begin to playing it in such way, I don’t, I never seen anything play like it in my life. And I thought, “Now, what’s that?” And then, one on the washboard, she got to doing the same thing. Then here, two or three got up. And a little blond head got to dancing right in the floor. I thought, “Oh, my.” Right up and down the floor as hard as she could go, just a dancing away, like that, little old girl, about sixteen, eighteen years old. I was just a young fellow myself. And I… “Now, isn’t that something? Right here in my church. How I’ll ever live that down? See?” And watching her like that, and I thought, “What do they do that for? Why do they have to do that? Why couldn’t they just played their music and went on and let it alone like that?” I thought, “Well, that’s terrible.”
4 I got to thinking, “Now, in the Bible is there such a thing as dancing?” And I remembered that David danced around the ark, when he saw the ark coming. See? He danced before the Lord. And the Lord said, “He’s a man after my own heart.” I thought, “Well, now, that’s… He… What did he dance for?” Well, they had a victory. And Miriam when they crossed over the Red Sea, Moses sang in the Spirit, and Miriam took a tambourine and begin to beat it, and they went down along the bank, all the daughters of Israel, dancing in the Spirit. See? And I seen that dancing was when they had victory. I thought—got to thinking, “Well, maybe, I haven’t got victory enough.” See? I got thinking about it. And you know, after while I got to patting my foot, and before I knowed it I was out there dancing with that girl, out there in that aisle.
5 Oh, I was marked then. I—I could just see the expression on those people’s face yet, seeing their pastor on the floor with this—that little girl dancing around. Here I was right out there too. I never was on a dance floor in my life. And the… But I’d have to take it back and say, “It was on that one.” But that was a church floor. So when we… You know, all the devil’s got, he—he—he copied it after some real thing that God’s got. That’s right. It’s just exactly. The devil cannot create. He’s just a perverter of what’s been created. You see? So he cannot create; he’s not a creator; he’s a perverter.
Everlasting Life and How to Receive It
December 31, 1954 · Jeffersonville, Indiana
146 About fifteen years ago, tonight, I was standing on this platform there, with a big chart, teaching.
147 And there was a little Pentecostal group come from Louisville. And I never did believe in them people dancing the way they did. And there was a little lady come up here to play the piano. And they was going to play a special, and beat on a little…thimbles on a washboard. And some of them beat on a tin can. I was very much of a critic of it, so I thought, “What’s going to happen?” And the woman come up to play the special. She got to playing. The lady got to beating on the washboard. And this little blond-headed girl jumped out of here, on the floor, and begin to dance in the Spirit.
148 And me, sitting in the seat of the scornful, I said, “Now, I wish you would look at that!” And I had been telling my church, till they was all wondering what I was going to do about it. I kept looking at her, and I thought, “Look at that! Now, if that isn’t something! Making a tavern out of my church!” And I was sitting there, not knowing any better. I wasn’t saying nothing, but in my heart I was thinking it.
149 So I watched her there while she was dancing. And the first thing you know, I said, “Now wait a minute. Wonder if the lady has got any Scripture for it?” And I begin to think about the Scriptures. I said, “Where was dancing ever ordained at? The first place, in the Bible.” That’s right. And I thought, “What made them dance?”
150 I seen that the children of Israel, when they crossed the Red Sea, Miriam looked back and seen all those taskmasters drowned, she picked up a tambourine and begin to dance; and beat this tambourine, and run down the shores, dancing. And the daughters of Israel followed her, dancing. I thought, “That’s victory.”
151 I seen David, when his sweetheart sitting up there behind this fan, a fanning, looking at her cute little boy friend, David standing out there. And here come the ark, that Brother Graham talked about a while ago, coming across the hill. When David seen it coming, he danced around and around and around. “Why,” she said, “you embarrass me!”
152 He said, “If you don’t like that, watch this!” And around and around and around he went again.
153 You know what? God looked down out of Heaven, and said, “David, you’re a man after My Own heart.” That’s right.
154 And I thought, “You know, there’s one thing the matter with me. I haven’t got enough victory, maybe.” And I got sitting there, and I got my Methodist foot patting. And the first thing you know…God, my judge! I, ‘fore I knowed what I was doing, I was out on the floor here, dancing around, with that girl. That’s right.
155 Then I said, “God, take me out of the seat of the scornful. Let me look at anything sensibly before I ever pass a judgment any more.” Amen. God does things peculiar.
156 I don’t believe in a lot of nonsense. I don’t believe in a lot of tommyrot. But I believe in the real, genuine, Spirit-filled, Holy-Ghost Word of God being preached in power and demonstration. Amen. For, That’s the thing that saved me. That’s the thing that’s brought me thus far. That’s the thing that helped me when the doctor said I was dying. That’s the thing that saved me in the hour of my death. That’s the thing that’ll resurrect me. And That’s the thing I’ll go to Heaven with. If I ever get There, I’ll have to go by It; ‘cause I don’t know nothing else but That, and don’t want to know nothing else but That. That’s right.

100 And in the wilderness, when many of them come out, dancing in the Spirit, when Miriam beat the tambourine; eating manna out of Heaven; listened at Moses sing in the Spirit; watching the miracles and signs go forth. But when it come to a showdown, to believe the whole Word of God, all the promise, they failed.
101 Only two of them believed it, that was Joshua and Caleb. And they brought back the evidence that the land was good.

258 Don’t make that mistake. Don’t you trust in speaking in tongues for the Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost speaks in tongues, but don’t you trust that and doing the things that you’re doing, dancing in the Spirit, some kind of a sensation. Christ is a Person. Certainly. When…And He’s the Word. And if He is in there, He always makes His Word work just exactly the way It’s supposed to. When you turn It down, how can it be Christ?
Exodus 15:20 And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances.
2 Samuel 6:14-17 14And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. 15So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. 16And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. 17And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.
Psalms 30:11-12 11Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; 12To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.
Psalm 149:3-5 3Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.** 4For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. 5Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds.
Lamentations 5:14-16 14The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick. 15The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. 16The crown is fallen* from* our head: woe unto us, that we have sinned!
Jeremiah 31:3-9 3The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved, thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee. 4Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry. 5Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things. 6For there shall be a day, that the watchmen upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion unto the LORD our God. 7For thus saith the LORD; Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O LORD, save thy people, the remnant of Israel. 8Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither. 9They shall come with weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.
Jeremiah 31:12-13 12Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. 13Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.
Psalms 150:1-4 1Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. 2Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. 3Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. 4Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. 5Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. 6Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
1 Samuel 30:1-6 (KJVS) And it came to pass, when David and his men were come to Ziklag on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the south, and Ziklag, and smitten Ziklag, and burned it with fire; 2 And had taken the women captives, that were therein: they slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their way. 3 So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives. 4 Then David and the people that were with him lifted up their voice and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5 And David’s two wives were taken captives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite. 6 And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.
Galatians 3:13-14 (AMP) 13 Christ purchased our freedom [redeeming us] from the curse (doom) of the Law [and its condemnation] by [Himself] becoming a curse for us, for it is written [in the Scriptures], Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree (is crucified);† 14 To the end that through [their receiving] Christ Jesus, the blessing [promised] to Abraham might come upon the Gentiles, so that we through faith might [all] receive [the realization of] the promise of the [Holy] Spirit.
1 Samuel 30:7-10 7 And David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech’s son, I pray thee, bring me hither the ephod. And Abiathar brought thither the ephod to David. 8 And David enquired at the LORD, saying, Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them? And he answered him, Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all. 9 So David went, he and the six hundred men that were with him, and came to the brook Besor, where those that were left behind stayed. 10 But David pursued, he and four hundred men: for two hundred abode behind, which were so faint that they could not go over the brook Besor.
1 Samuel 30:16-20 16 And when he had brought him down, behold, they were spread abroad upon all the earth, eating and drinking, and dancing, because of all the great spoil that they had taken out of the land of the Philistines, and out of the land of Judah. 17 And David smote them from the twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them, save four hundred young men, which rode upon camels, and fled. 18 And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives. 19 And there was nothing lacking to them, neither small nor great, neither sons nor daughters, neither spoil, nor any thing that they had taken to them: David recovered all. 20 And David took all the flocks and the herds, which they drave before those other cattle, and said, This is David’s spoil.
Psalm 18:6a In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried to my God for help.
Psalm 27:1-2 The LORD is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid? When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
Psalm 34:1-6 I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
Psalm 42:1-6a As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God? My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’ These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng. Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm 56:1-4 Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me; all day long they press their attack. My slanderers pursue me all day long; many are attacking me in their pride. When I am afraid, I will trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me?
Psalm 62:1-2 My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken.
