Zechariah 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Supplication (Strongs #8469): earnest prayer, entreaty, plea for mercy, petition, supplication for favor

Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The first four are:

  1. The Spirit of Life: Creates or recreates God’s Divine Life in Us

  2. The Spirit of Truth: Brings us to a more PERFECT REVELATION of God.

  3. The Spirit of Adoption: Works patiently in us until we can be called sons of knowledge, MATURE SONS

  4. The Spirit of Holiness: Causes our relationship to grow into the REALIZATION and REVELATION of HIS HOLINESS

The first four reveal His work in creating the DIVINE LIFE of God in us.

The final three are:

  1. The Spirit of Grace: Governs the attitudes and actions of the believer who has learned to walk in DEPENDENCE on the Holy Spirit

  2. The Spirit of Supplication: Executes the office of prayer, governing the communication between our spirit and God.

  3. The Spirit of Glory: Forms the goodness of God in us; His honor, His reputation, His transfiguration, His manifest presence, He changes us from glory to glory.

Believing God

107So therefore that’s the reason, said, “The prayer of faith shall save the sick,” an individual’s prayer. “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Oh, if you only knew that, in your hand, Christ gave us the authority, with His Name, by being Christians, the most powerful weapon the world has ever known. Prayer, it even changes everything. It’ll change the mind of God. It did do it. After death was pronounced to a man, he prayed; God told the prophet, “Go back and tell him I heard him.” See there, prayer, hold on!

9Prayer is the key, that’s the answer. Prayer changes things. Prayer is the most powerful weapon that was ever put in the—the control of human beings. There’s no atomic bomb, or no hydrogen bomb as powerful as prayer. Prayer will change the mind of God. Did you know that? It did do it one time.

11So we believe that prayer is the most powerful weapon that was ever put in the care of a human being. You know, prayer one time changed the mind of God. Did you know that? It sure did.

Hezekiah was told by Isaiah the prophet, that he was going to die on that bed. And Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and wept bitterly, and asked the Lord for—for fifteen more years of life. And God sent the prophet right back, and said, “I’ve heard.” And he was spared for the time. See? When God had already announced his death. But He spared him, because that he prayed. So if prayer is that powerful, what can it do? My, we don’t realize how great it is.

Proverbs 20:27 (KJVS) The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.

Proverbs 20:27 (AMP) The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.

Proverbs 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Romans 8:1 (KJVS) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Mark 4:24 And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

Mark 4:24 (AMP) And He said to them, Be careful what you are hearing. The measure a[of thought and study] you give [to bthe truth you hear] will be the measure c[of virtue and knowledge] that comes back to you—and more [besides] will be given to you who hear.

Matthew 13:18-23 (KJVS) Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. 19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side. 20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended. 22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. 23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Ephesians 5:14-17 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

Psalms 119:165 Great PEACE have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.

Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect PEACE, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Revelation, Chapter Four #3

January 8, 1961 · Jeffersonville, Indiana

9And the little church, I admonish you in the Name of the Lord Jesus to grow in the grace of God, hold yourself steady and look towards Calvary all the time, taking all the roots of bitterness out of your heart and soul, that God might use you at any time. If you ever feel to do something, or a revelation or something comes to you strangely, something warningly or something, be careful! Satan is as sly and slick as he can be. See? Put it with the Word of God and consult your pastor. See?

53The only thing the matter, get all these little differences away from you. Little isms, and little funny feelings around you for brethren, and things like that, shake it away! Don’t let no root of bitterness ever get into your soul. If you do, it’ll canker you. Right. Keep love! I don’t care how much people hate you, you love them anyhow. If you can’t do that, you need…the…you the ain’t…you ain’t sealed, you got a loose place yet. So come on, on back, and get that sealed up right good with the Blood of Christ. It’ll cleanse you from all roots of bitterness. Yes.

17Try to do something good and just keep being good; hold no malice, no grudges, don’t let any bitterness. No matter how bad the person is and how bad they talk about you, don’t you never think evil in your heart against them; ’cause right there the devil will set right in, work up something right there. Just keep it all covered up with godly love, confession, and making right, and do good to those who do evil to you. “If you only do good to those who do good to you, why,” Jesus said, “don’t the publicans the same?” See? The sinners, anybody can be good to those that’s good to them. But be good to those who are not good to you, do something for those that would not do nothing for you. Speak a good word for the man that would speak evil against you, and that way you keep all the bitterness out of your heart; and you’re always in love with everybody then, as long as you stay in love.

86If the brother, you think he’s a little wrong, or the sister, say, “Lord, don’t let me never have the root of bitterness spring up, ’cause it’ll—it’ll affect him, and it’ll take the Christ right out of my life.” That poison acids of malice, and jealousy, and hatred, that will just take the Holy Spirit right away from you. It will run Him from the tabernacle here. It’ll kill the Spirit of God, or drive It away from here, hurt your pastor. It’ll do everything. See? Don’t you do that.

87You just wax that much closer together. Draw up the…Take the buckle, as the brother testified, a minister here the other night, about having a buckle, seeing it in a vision. Just, that buckles on the whole armor of God. Just pull her on, tighten up, move right up close to one another. Love one another, anyhow. Talk nice about one another, say nice things about one another, and then God will bless you.

71Oh, not that constant burden for the lost, that sweetness. Don’t never let anything rise up and put bitterness in your soul. No matter how bad anyone ever treats you or anything, don’t never! Don’t be guilty of letting that thing anchor in your soul. It’ll grieve the Holy Spirit away from you. It certainly will.

79See, always keep all roots of bitterness out of you. See? No matter what anyone does to you, let…just have God in there that’ll keep all evil away from you.

Mark 11:25-26 (KJVS) And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses.

Genesis 27:41 And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand; then will I slay my brother Jacob.

Matthew 18:33 Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

Ephesians 4:31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clam our, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

Perfect Faith

August 25, 1963 · Jeffersonville, Indiana

19Now, faith is based on forgiveness, then. And then, as we said this morning, trying to get the church into the place to where we could really see apostolic times moving among us, that’s what we all hunger. And it’s just laying right at the door. We see it, but we want to see more of it. We want it such a flow that it’ll—it’ll be a help to us, us flow out to others.
