“And God said unto Moses, I Am That I Am: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I Am hath sent me unto you.” Exodus 3:14
God’s answer to Moses in Hebrew, is e’heyeh aser' e’heyeh. This is most simply translated as “I am WHO I am.” Other translations of this important phrase include, “I am WHAT I am,” or, “I will be what I will be.”
The Almighty identifies Himself here as the self-existent One—the eternal, unique, and uncreated God. He has His being OF Himself, and has NO dependance on ANY other. And being SELF-existent, He cannot but be SELF-sufficient, and therefore ALL-SUFFICIENT, and the inexhaustible fountain of EVERYTHING we have need of!
He is eternal and unchangeable: the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever. There is NO problem too big, NO situation too complex, and NO need too great for the ONE who self-existing and ALL-sufficient!
He is never TOO EARLY and never TOO LATE, but ALWAYS right on time! This great GOD who called to Moses desires to have a daily, personal and intimate relationship with you and I, who could refuse such an offer? We would be foolish to let one single day go by without taking a moment to fellowship with Him!
“In every age, in every generation, all through Eternity, still, “I AM.” Now, You are still that great “I AM,” not the “I was” or “will be.” Yet, You was, and You will be. But, yet, You’re ever present, “I AM.”
