“When asked, ‘What is more important: prayer or reading the Bible?’ I ask, ‘What is more important: breathing in or breathing out?’” Charles Spurgeon
When you inhale (breathe in), air enters your lungs and oxygen from the air moves from your lungs to your blood. All cells in our body need oxygen to create energy efficiently.
At the same time, carbon dioxide, a waste gas, moves from your blood to the lungs and is exhaled (breathe out).
This process (inhalation and exhalation) is called gas exchange and is ESSENTIAL to life, that means they are EQUALLY IMPORTANT and both are a NECESSITY to stay ALIVE!
I agree with Spurgeon, we must have BOTH PRAYER and BIBLE READING as a part of our DAILY lives!
A STRONG Christian will ALWAYS have a STRONG prayer life! It will not come automatically! It will require COMMITMENT and DEDICATION. Prayer must be more than presenting our wishlist. Prayer should ALSO be devotional in nature which often shifts our focus from ASKING for more, to PRAISING and Worshipping Him for His GOODNESS and FAITHFULNESS toward us! Prayer is also a dialogue and often allows us to hear from our Papa.
Correspondingly, we are both FED and WASHED by the WORD of God when we prayerfully READ it. Both our NATURAL and SPIRITUAL lives are greatly sustained by good hygiene and nutritious meals! Additionally, when we consistently read the Bible, we discover by REVELATION more of who HE IS and HIS THOUGHTS toward US, this strengthens us to SILENCE all other lying versions of WHO we are!
I strongly encourage you to seize a moment of every day and TRAIN to REIGN by making prayer and Bible reading a PRIORITY! YOU will NEVER regret giving the Lord more of your TIME and LIFE!
